Suriya, Samantha, Nithya Menen
A. R. Rahman
Well-made & neatly executed
Sci-fiction films are rarely attempted in Tamil cinema. Interestingly filling the void is 24. It is a movie that is worth a watch for its intelligent writing by direcor Vikram Kumar and shrewd performance by all top artistes including suriya.
Produced by Suriya and K E Gnanavelraja under their banners 2D Entertainment and Studio Green respectively, the movie is being released by Eros Internationals.
24 features Suriya in triple roles, bringing much delight for his fans.Samantha and Nithya Menen play key roles and music is by AR Rahman.
Tirru handles cinematography and with state-of-the-art VFX and Computer Graphics elevates the film to greater heights.Suriya plays the role of a scientist, baddie and a youngster with charm and grace.
Call it a super show by him for he brings out right variation and nuances in every role of his.Samantha and Nithya Menen chips in with right support.
But the whole show belongs to dreaded baddie Athreya, an old man in the movie who is restricted to his wheel chair.Vikram Kumar's story-telling holds the key.
He wastes no time in getting to the subject straightaway fro first scene.Sethuraman (Suriya) is a scientist who discovers a time travel watch. The laboratory is his life. But there is 'baddie' brother of Sethu called Athreya (Suriya).
The evil Athreya decides to take the device overnight. He even goes to the extent of killing Sethuraman and his wife (Nithya Menen). Athreya makes several attempts to lay his hands on the device, but in vain.
Exactly after 25 years, Sethuraman's son grows up to be a watch mechanic Mani (Suriya), a happy-go-lucky youngster. The showdown between the two takes them back, say 25 years. What unfolds in their lives and how things are set right forms the rest.
All said, 24 is a super show that deserves a watch.
