Directed by Rudran, Vettriselvan is the story of three men who were admitted to a mental asylum. What happens to them after they are cured and why the society continues to neglect them form the crux.

The miserable life in mental asylums which doesn't garner any attention makes up the story. Debutant filmmaker Rudhran has tried to champion a cause. The movie stars Ajmal, Radhika Aapte, Mano, Sherief, Azhagam Perumal, Ganja Karuppu and Thalaivasal Vijay in prominent roles.

The movie has cinematography Loganathan and Ramesh, while music is by Mani Sharma. Ajmal, Mano and Sherief work in a garage in Ooty. Ajmal's amiable ways wins him the heart of Radhika Aapte (an advocate). Meanwhile one fine day the trio gets arrested for murder.

Radhika Aapte comes to their rescue. A flashback reveals that they had escaped from a mental asylum. They were searched for a murder which they had not committed. How Radhika Aapte proves their innocence form the climax.

Ajmal is young and energetic. He is good in action and romantic sequences while Mano dons greasepaint after along gap. Radhika Aapte plays her part well. Azhagam Perumal and Thalaivasal Vijay liven up the proceedings.

It goes too emotional at places and too many sub-plots mars the show. Also the movie begins on a promising note but loses steam as it progresses. But Rudran deserves a pat for a different attempt.
