Set in a typical Tamil Brahmin backdrop the movie talks about arranged marriage and their pros and cons. As the title aptly suggests Kalyanan Samyal Saadham is all about the happenings that surrounds typical Brahmin wedding ceremony and the difference of opinion that arise between the bride and groom's families and how it effects the relationship between the two, all this is portrayed with a twist of romance and comedy.

Debutante director R S Prasanna from the ace director Balu Mahendra camp has taken up a sensitive issue and has presented it with a splash of comedy. Yet the film is still found wanting in the screenplay area.

Prasanna is the hero and gorgeous Lekha Washington plays the female lead in the film. 'Delhi' Ganesh, Uma Padmanabhan have done justice to their roles.

The songs in the film are just above average but the background score is enjoyable. Since the story revolves around a wedding ceremony the songs are traditional and most of them are familiar. Mella Ciritthal and Kadhal Maranthayada are worth listening.

Vivid picturaisation, colorful costumes, lively marriage scenes are some of the positive aspects of the film though the negatives cannot be discarded. Just when the audience expected the movie to be a conventional subject the director's focus moves towards cultural degeneration. Moreover certain comedy scenes do not actually deliver the messages right.

Though not a feast it is definitely a tasty treat!
