Director Pannerselvam of Renikunda fame has chosen to keep it simple in Karuppan. He has opted for a story that we have watched umpteen numbers of times.

But the screenplay and script makes the difference. There are enough elements added to make it a mass and racy show and eventually end up drawing the attention of audience.

Vijay Sethupathi with his powerful performance manages to hold all attention. He seems to have mastered the art of playing to the gallery.

His body language and performance deserve special appreciation. His romance, anger agony, action and even comedy make it an exciting thing to watch on screen.

A rural tale with more emotion, Karuyppan fulfils the appetite of masses.Karuppan (Vijay Sethupathi) is a drunkard. But he has a life to live. He cares for his mute mom (Renuka).

They share a great bonding. Interestingly Karuppan is bull tamer in the area. During a Jallikattu, the local panchayat chief Maayi (Pasupathi) announces that whoever controls his bull can marry his sister Anbu (Tanya).

But Maayi's brother-in-law (Bobby Simha) wants to win over Anbu. Now he hatches a conspiracy to disrupt Karuyppan and Anbu coming together. What happens in their lives forms the rest.It is a clearly Vijay Setupathi show.

He is right there delivering it with ease and style. Tanya is not just cute but energetic. His scenes with Vijay Sethupathi add strength to the movie.Pasupathi and Bobby SImha do what entrusted to them well.

The latter does a good job and pours venom in his eyes. Singam Puli does a vadivelu in the film. He plays Vijay Sethupathi's uncle and manages to make all laugh.

The music by Imman is a big strength while Sakthivel's cinematography is pleasant. The pace at which movie progresses thanks to V T Vijayan makes it a great fare.Karuppan may be a cliched story, but Pannerselvam's presentation makes it big.

Vijay Sethupathi's charm continues
