Vidharth, Pooja Devariya, Aishwarya Rajesh
S. Harihara Naganathan
A complex storyline but well-narrated. A thriller that engages for most part and a bunch of artistes who deliver their best. This forms Kuttramae Thandanai. After a successful outing in Kaaka Muttai, cinematographer-filmmaker Manikandan is out with Kuttramae Thandanai.
As the title suggests it is a crime thriller. In English, it means Crime is the punishment. The movie has enough interesting elements that manage a good watch. Doing a crime thriller demands a lot of conviction and Manikandan with his grip over the medium excel in it well.
He manages to strike a balance between commercial and art-house cinema. The frames, background score and bright colors make it an interesting watch. The movie stars Vidharth, Aishwarya Rajesh, Pooja Devariya, Naser, Rahman among others. Vidharth has done a splendid show.
He is right there delivering his best after Myna.Vidharth is a collection agent and money is his requirement. He goes partial blind and wants money for treatment. He comes across a murder of a girl in his neighborhood. When he witnesses a young woman’s murder, the killers offer him a large sum of money to remain quiet.
The decision that he takes thereafter decides the course of the movie. Vidharth excel in the role while Pooja Devariya is apt cast. Aishwarya Rajesh chips in well.Rahman and Nassar live up to expectations. But the real scene-stealer is Ilayaraja.
His background score elevates the movie.Manikandans camera compliments the work of Ilayaraja. All said, Kuttrame Thandanai is a whiff of fresh air in Tamil cinema.
