Nalanum Nandhiniyum, directed by Venkatesan, is a mushy melodrama that is set in a village. A feel-good family entertainer, it treads the path shown by Vikraman in later 1990s. what begins as a funride settles down as an emotional drama in a family and ends up with a message.

Attakathi and Mundasupatti fame Nandhitha plays the heroine, while Michael dones the role as hero. Add to it Azhagam Perumal, Soori and Jayaprakash, the movie manages to boast a huge star cast.

Venkatesan has laced up the film with enough elements that would woo women audience. Nishar Shafi is the cinematographer. Ashwath has scored the music and IJ Alan is the editor.

Michael, the eldest son of a family is fun-loving and callous youth. He has a deep crush on Nandhitha , his uncle's daughter who is brought up in the village. The elders have decided to get them married. But a trouble breaks out in the family and the familes drift apart. Fearing that their romance would end, the couple elope and gets married. They return only to be ridiculed by both their families.

Now Michael and Nandhitha come down to Chennai and struggle against all odds to lead a happy life. They now resolve to get their families united. Michael is tailor-made for the role.

He emotes well and does his job well. He is comfortable before the camera. Nandhitha sparkles in her role and she has enough scope to give her best. Soori manages to evoke laughter at several places while Azhagam Perumal and Jayaprakash lends a brisk performance.Venkatesan is very much influenced by Vikraman style of films.

Though there are enough moments, a sense of having seen before prevails at many places. Music by Ashwath is good. all said, the movie is enjoyable in parts.
