Jyothika has been selective of her films. A sought-after heroine a few years ago, Jyothika chose to bid bye to acting and made a comeback with 36 Vayadhinile in 2015.

It was followed by Magalir Mattum in 2017. She is widely acclaimed for doing challenging roles. Now comes Nachiyaar. Directed by Bala, it has eventually a power-packed performance from her. She plays the role of a hot-headed and foul-mouthed police woman to perfection. What special is that the movie is from the hut of Bala.

From Sethu till now, he has firm belief in realism in cinema and never lets commercial aspects dominate. For music composer GV Prakash, until now his heroic ventures oin screen have been bubbly roles.

Famous for his virgin boy role, he graduates to playa matures role that would shatter the image that has clouded his talent. In Naachiyaar, he plays a slum boy who sells fruits for a livelihood.Newcomer Ivana does a wonderful performance.A thriller revolving around three characters, the film is said to be powered by the maestro’s pulsating background score. His work in Naachiyaar is one of the major highlights of the film.

The highlight of the movie is the way Bala has shaped up the characters. There is simplicity in each character and their actions are real.Kaathu (GV Prakash), a fruit vendor and Arasi (Ivana), a house maid fall for each other.

Their sweet romance is the platform for the movie. However the movie stars with a pregnant Arasi arrested by police officer Naachiyaar (Jyothika) and another team led by Feroz (Rockline Venkatesh) arresting Kaathu who is accused of raping a minor.

What happens in their lives after that. Who goes behind who and eventually how it ends peacefully forms the crux.Jyothika is perfect fot for the role. She does it with ease while GV Prakash gets under the sk9in of the character to show his best. Both Ivana and Venkatesh are adequate.

Unlike Bala's earlier films, the movie ends in a positive note, something that was not the case in his earlier movies. The characters stay in your heart and the realism in the film wins our hearts.
