The movie ‘Dabaang’ in Hindi which cast Salman Khan in the main role, has been released in Tamil as ‘Osthi’.  Simbu has acted in Salman’s place and the movie has been directed by ‘Gilli’ Dharani.  There is a whole hoard of stars as Santhanam, Jithan Ramesh, Nazer, Revathi, Saranya Mohan, Nizhalgal  Ravi, Vijaykumar, VTV Ganesh, Thambi Ramaiah, Vaiyapuri, and Mayilsaami.  There is a copious presence of the police character throughout the film.  Director Dharani has brought in a new trend of weaving comedy with the police character.

One and only mother, and two fathers are what Simbu’s relations are about.  Simbu grows up in a stepfather’s presence.  He grows up to adulthood and becomes a police officer.  He has irreparable grudge towards his step father and his step brother.  The villain group directs the younger brother against the elder one.  The main story is about Simbu finally arriving at  reconciliation and accepting the relations.  The portions in the movie showing the clash between the hero and villain is irreconcilable. 

Even though Simbu imitates Salman in the police character his action is of course enjoyable.  He has created a flutter among the fans by coming in ‘Osthe’ Mamen getup all through the film and his combination with Santhanam, Thambi Ramaiah, Vaiyapuri, and Mayilsaami adds pepper to the story.  Santhanam’s delivery is like the burst of crackers.  Richa Gangopadhyay has paired up with Simbu in this movie.

 There is youth to the songs of Taman, and dance of Simbu.  The retaliation given by ‘Oshe Mamen’ Simbu for every strategy the villain Sonu Sood develops is like a rapid fire.  The movie has the tastemakers as the fight scenes, and certain other inclusions needed for a ‘masala’ movie.

The movies has every aspect of a typical entertainment film.  Simbu has subtly shown that he is an Ajith fan.  He has made an effort to show the six pack in the climax.

The movie ‘Osthi’ guarantees 100 per cent entertainment.
