Vijay Sethupathi, Lakshmi Menon
A mass masala entertainer from Vijay sethupathi's stable. For the first time, Vijay Sethupathi steps out of his comfort zone to play part of a movie that is loud, racy and has all commercial elements in one go.
Rekka by Rathinasiva promises a lot. It begins on a brisk note and gathers pace as it progresses. The shrewd filmmaker has played to the gallery in the movie. There is plenty of action, romance and punchlines for Vijay Sethupathi. The actor in him gets enough opportunities to showcase his other side.
He does utilise the opportunity well. And his costumes and image makeover deserve special mention. The vute Lakshmi menon steals the show with a flawless shopw. She has a meaty role to do and does well. The likes of Sathish, K S Ravikumar and Kabir Khan chip in well.
Special mention should be made of Harish Uthaman who dazzles in the role of a baddie.Rathinasiva has ensured that success formula of many blockbusters rewritten to suit Vijay sethupathi.
His pacy screenplay adds more weight to the script. The movie is about Shiva (Vijay Sethupathi), a law graduate. He is the local's braveheart and his mission is to save girls forced into marriages. During one such encounter, he cross swords with a wicked man (Harish Uthaman).
It is head -on collision between him and the baddie. Meanwhile there is Lakshmi Menon and sweet little romance between them. Also a flashback reveals why Sethu has taken up this mission to save girls forced into marriages.
Imman's music adds weight and the song Viru Viru is picturised well.Rekka is a breezy and an entertaining show with enough elements to engage and entertain masses.
Rekka - Pacy & racy
