Nivin Pauly, the most sought-after actor of Malayalam cinema made his debut in Tamil with Neram, made in Malayalam too. But now he is part of Richie, which happens to be his straight Tamil film. After Premam's huge success, expectations run sky-high on Richie, a remake of Kannada hit Ulidavaru Kandante.

The movie has an unique narration timeline and visual aesthetics. The movie is directed by Gautham Ramachandran, who worked with the likes of Rajiv Menon and Mysskin. Music is by Ajaneesh Lokanath, who composed tunes for the original. The movie also stars cinematographer-actor Natty, Shraddha Srinath, Lakshmi Priyaa and Prakash Raj.

It is a crime thriller, which unfolds in a town, when there is a festival. A murder takes place in the midst of all the festivity and the story unfolds as the crime is narrated from five different perspectives. The film involves an anthology of five stories, all connected to the murder. The plot involves crime, vengeance and misunderstanding.

However, the non-linear narrative makes it count.Pandi Kumar wields the camera, while Athul Vijay's editing is also another highlight of the film.Nivin Pauly plays the title role of a thug. The story is centred around the murder that takes place during a local fair.

Shraddha Srinath will be seen as a journalist who tries to put the peices together from different people to get a clear picture about the incident.

The movie is seen as a good attempt of presenting neo-noir crime drama. But the screenplay lags. The biggets strength of the film is Nivuin Pauly. He is at ease and delivers his role with aplomb.

Action sits well on him. Natraj Subramaniam has enough screen space and he does deliver it well. The movie has a theme that is trendy and neo.Had there been more life in the script, the end product would have been better, All said, it is a treat for Nivin Pauly fans.

Trendy and teriffic
