Saguni is, actor Karthi's, upcoming political drama film directed by debutant director Shankar Dayal which is getting released on June 22 along with Billa 2.
As this film is coming after his previous hit film "Siruthai", the expectations are very high. And to satisfy the high expectations he has joined hands with comedian Santhanam again. The pair of karthi and Santhanam did an excellent job as far as Siruthai's comedy was concerned.
So the same pair is expected to repeat the magic again. G V Prakash Kumar joins hands with Karthi for the 2nd time after ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’.
Let us see how G V Prakash has done his job. Anylysis of the songs in alphabetical order.
Annachi Ammachi
Vocal: Pushpavanam Kuppusamy
Lyrics: Na Muthukumar
This one is a folk song meant to attract ordinary people and who other than Pushpavanam Kuppusamy can do a better justice to the song. He proves that he is an expert at this kind of songs. As the movie revolves around a political story, this kind of song was expected and GV did not disappoint the mass as lot of trumpet and nadaswaram have been used generously to arouse the senses.
Kandha Kaara Vadai
Vocal: Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics: Paramu
This song has been downloaded 75,000 times from the internet and the number tell it all. A number that can be thoroughly relished which tells about lcity life. The lyrics are very catchy and full of meaning. We have to wait and see how Karthi brings life to this song and the lyrics. Shankar Mahadevan mesmerizes with his voice and this one is definitely, a new kind of number for GVP.
Manasellam Mazhaiye
Vocal: Sonu Nigam, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Na Muthukumar
When you have Sonu Nigam and Saindhavi in the same song, we all know what to expect from the singers and the music director. The melody number has extensive use of flute and harmonium which sync well to give a through feeling. Another good one from all the players involved.
Pottadhu Pathalai Maapillai
Vocal: Velmurugan
Lyrics: Annamalai
An instant hit type "Gaana" song from Velmurugan, who as of late, is very famous for these kind of songs. And it is hard to believe that GV Praksh has delivered it with the same power and punch of another music director of his times, Deva, who is known for Gaana songs. This song is already a hit number.
Vella Bambaram
Vocal: Baba Sehgal, Priya Himesh
Lyrics: Vivega
The energy of the singers in this song is very good and Baba Sehgal has once again proved that music directors can trust him to the full for his extra-ordinary effort. Seems like a sure fire hit.
Verdict: As the music also revolves around a political based script, we have to satisfy ourselves with what have been delivered. A kind of a mass entertainer music album.
