ACT always spelt success

Stalwarts of Tamil film industry mourned the death of veteran filmmaker A C Thirulokachander affectionately called as ACT, who directed over 70 films besides producing a dozen. 

He made films like Anbae Vaa (1966), Ramu (1966), Adhay Kangal (1967), Naanum Oru Pen (1963), Bharatha Vilas (1973), Enga Mama (1970), were among his hits. Totally, he had directed 70 films, most of them in Tamil followed by Telugu and Hindi.

He also directed a couple of Rajinikanth movies.Vteran actress Sachu, who was introduced by Thirulokachander in Veera Thirumagan, said, 'I am thankful to him forever.

He made me popular with Roja Malare Rajakumari song in Veera Thirumagan. His approach towards artistes was extraordinary. He would enact each and every scene.

He gave me chance as comedian in Engirundho Vandhal alongside Nagesh and Avan Thaan Manidhan with Cho.

'Veteran filmmaker S P Muthuraman, who started his career as  Thirulokachander's assistant, said, 'He was hard working and had a great respect for his subordinates. His encouragement and motivation helped me a lot'.

'He directed a lot of movies for the famed AVM productions and all of them became blockbusters'.Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa condoled the death of Thirulokachander on Tuesday.

In her statement, the Chief Minister, 'Thirulokachander's death is an irreparable loss to the film industry'. 'He was one among the best directors of Tamil cinema', she added.
