Students of Bishop Heber College, Trichy, undertook a walking tour enroute the Dhandi voyage route taken by Mahatma Gandhi. A function was held in the college so as to appreciate the effort by students.
AR Murugadoss participated as special guest for the event. AR Murugadoss spoke:-
‘Only after I made address in the school, I heard my own voice. While I did studies, I suffered inferiority complex. Other than studies, teachers of Bishop Heber College relate national affairs in the classes.’
‘As I did three years of college, I earned experience accumulated through 30 years. As I did college studies, my inhibition disappeared without a trace.’
‘I developed mentality to question injustice. But I did not know how to fight injustice. So, I even contemplated turning naxalite or politician.’
‘A photograph of a girl running without dress stopped Second World War. If a photograph has the power to stop a war, then through cinema it could be done. So, I entered cinemas to do social service.’
‘I depict scenes such that those bring to light the social degradation. Students who took the route Gandhi took should attain the goal he reached.’
‘As I showed in movie Ramana, students should carry out good in whatever field they are. One should not go for work with just the pay in mind. People should volunteer to perform duties for society’ said AR Murugadoss.
