Bharathiraja’s address in London procession supporting Sri Lankan Tamils

Procession was held in London favouring Sri Lankan Tamils and to gather strength to agitation by Tamil Nadu students for formation of Tamil Eelam. Demands as formation of Tamil Eelam, and action against Sri Lankan Government for war crimes have been stressed upon as people took to the streets for procession. 

The procession was flagged of from Trafalgar Square, London, and was conducted unmindful of freezing weather.  Children, women and students alike took to the streets for the procession. 

The procession was headed by Kandiah Rajamanoharan.  Director Bharathiraja, Jayanandan Murthy, and Bharathi from Tamil association participated in the procession. 

Director Bharathiraja spoke as the procession was flagged off: -

‘Eelam will be formed.  Do not differentiate between Tamils as Eelam Tamil, Indian Tamil, Malaysian Tamil and Canada Tamil.  Wherever be a Tamil, Tamils are under one umbrella.’

Then, the procession proceeded towards the British Prime Minister’s Home. Sri Lankan President Raja Pakse’s effigy which was dragged during the procession was set ablaze. 

The recorded speech by two students was played during the procession.
