Censor Board refuses clearance as romance flick is given devotional title

Censor Board refused to give clearance to romance movie as the movie was given devotional title.  So, the title for the movie has been changed.  Movie ‘Thiru - Pugazh’ stars Dileep Kumar, Prabhu Raj, and Divya Singh.  Although the title appears like it is a devotional movie, the movie centres romance. The censor board refused certification as movie with romance in it cannot be given devotional title.

Director K Arjuna Rao spoke ‘Women, who flutter freely like a butterfly when they are small girls, need to be under governance of their parents as they turn older.   Women undergo tortures in name of love.  The story relates the plight of such women.’

The movie was intially titled ‘Thiruppugazh’.  But, Censor Board refused to give clearance as the movie was given devotional title.  So, we conceded and changed the title to Thiru – Pugazh’

There are other stars in the movie as Seetha, Nalini, Ganja Karuppu, and Pandu.  Cinematography is by Devaraj.  Music composition is by AK Ramji.  Production is by K Pazhaniappan. The shooting was held in Chennai, Pondicherry, Dindigul, and Kodaikanal.’
