Centenary celebration of Indian cinema to be held in Chennai

The President of India, Chief Ministers of four South Indian states, including Jayalalithaa, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister are to participate in the centenary celebration of Indian cinema to be held in Chennai. 

C Kalyan, president of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, spoke to press reporters on Wednesday: -

‘It is an honor that Centenary Celebration of Indian cinema is to be held in Chennai.  In the festival to be held between September 21st and September 24th, artistes from Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada are to participate.


Cultural programs by South Indian artistes are to be held during the first two days.  For dinner on 23rd evening, South Indian artistes are to participate along with family. 

During the valedictory function on 24th, President Pranab Mukherjee is to honor veterans in South Indian film industry.  Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah  are to participate in the festival. 

Also, shooting for movies by South Indian artistes would not be held between September 18th and September 24th taking into account rehearsal for programs and contributions during the festival. 


Actor  Sivakumar, Artistes Association Secretary Radha Ravi, FEFSI head Ameer, Producer Council head SA Chandrasekaran,  Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association head Vikraman were present at the press meet.
