Central Censor Board considers telecasting ‘A’ movies after 11 in the night

There is prevalent anticipation that Central Government would grant permission for telecast of movies bearing ‘A’ certification.

As per Indian Cable TV law, movies with ‘A’ certification should not be telecast.  For those movies to be telecast, Central Censor Board should grant ‘U/A’ Certification to the movie.  For ‘A’ movies to get ‘U/A’ certification, obscene scenes in the movies should be removed.

As producers profit through telecasting of movies, many movies are queuing up in Central Censor Board for ‘U/A’ Certification.  BCCI which is into control of TV programs other than News, is to join hands with Central Censor Board and discuss regarding choosing of viewable movies in television.

As important scenes in movies have to be removed for changing of certification from ‘A’ to ‘U/A’, there is chance that viewers are confused about the story.  Producers have suggested the Censor Board and BCCI that such movies could be telecast after 11 in the night.

Also, demand has been placed with mention that every inch of the movie is taken carefully, and it is difficult to put scissors into the movie at many places.  Also, if it is done, there is no life to the movie, said producers in their demand.

Now, BCCI has arrived at decision that ‘A’ movies could be telecast at midnight.  The BCCI is to form a group constituting of social activists, cine field and Information and Broadcast officials such that appropriate movies are chosen.

Central Censor Board conveys that there is chance of broadcast of ‘A’ movies after 11 in the night.
