Dhanush came to limelight as son-in-law of Rajini.  But it seems that he is lamenting about having lost his own identity.

Dhanush, speaking at an award presentation in Mumbai mentioned that he is devoting the ‘Kolaveri’ song to Amitabh Bachchan.  He added that he cannot do the same to Rajini.  Dhanush’s speech raised a furor.

After the program was over reporters raised a question as to why the song has been devoted to Amitabh when Rajini is superstar of India.

Dhanush answered ‘It should not be done that way within family.  I respect my father-in-law.  I respect his solitude. But as son-in-law of Rajini it is bogging me down. When I married his daughter Aishwarya in 2004 I lost my identity’

 ‘The name and fame I earned have been washed away.  Wherever I go I am being viewed Rajini’s son-in-law’

 ‘Whenever I give an interview the first question is ‘How do you feel about being Rajini’s son-in-law?’ Before this was the first question. After ‘Kolaveri’ song’s success this question is being inserted in the middle of interview.  I hope that in coming days this question would not be asked’

Rajini’s fans have opined that Dhanush’s comment is contradicting, and it seems to be out of some new frustration’

‘Why is it that Dhanush who is speaking this much has titled his movies with names ‘Padikkaadhavan’ and ‘Pollaadhavan’? On what basis he remade ‘MaappiLLai’?  Why did he remix Rajini’s songs?  He did this after turning Rajini’s son-in-law’

‘If he desires that he doesn’t want to share Rajini’s fame why did he do all these?’

‘In fact before Dhanush married Aishwarya he was a non-entity.  His films were flops.  Many movies during that period are junks.  Due to messing with call-sheet there were cases’

‘Only through status as Rajini’s son-in-law he earned identity and came out of problems’ said a fan.

A popular director who did not like to be named commented ‘Rajini is a superstar.  Dhanush is nothing before Rajini.  For identity, it seems Dhanush will demand that Rajini’s name should not be mentioned at one occasion.  He was not called to Bollywood for ‘Kolaveri’ song.  The chance came because he is Rajini’s son-in-law’
