Director Shankar and Kalanithi Maran asked to appear in court

The inquiry into the case related to story copyright of ‘Enthiran’ is to commence on December 9th. A writer by name ThamizhNadan has filed this case related to the copyright of the story ‘Enthiran’.    Sun Pictures Kalanidhi Maran is to present himself in the court that day.

The story of ‘Enthiran’ relates to the love that a robot develops for a woman, and the whole story is about releasing this knot.  This movie directed by Shankar, and starred by Rajini is a magnificent venture, and made a huge collection in the  box office.  Shankar had said that the story is his, and he developed the screenplay and dialogue in association with writer Sujatha.

A writer by name Thamizhnadan claimed the copyright of the story a few weeks after the release of the movie.  He lodged a police complaint saying that it was his story by name ‘Jookiba’ released in a monthly magazine in 1996.

Another person Aarnika Nazar also made a complaint. Then he fell silent.

Police registered Thamizhnadan’s complaint.  But Thamizhnadan has accused that the police refused to include Kalanithi Maran in the complaint.  So he filed a complaint against director  Shankar and producer Kalanithi Maran in the civil court.  Also, he registered a plagiarism case in the Egmore criminal court.

The Egmore criminal court issued an order to Shankar and Kalanithi Maaran to present themselves in the court. But they availed of an interim stay to avoid presenting themselves in the court.

A petition was filed on Thamizhnadan’s side to remove the interim stay and make them present themselves in the court.  Judge Arumugaswamy said that no further adjournment can be made, and they should present themselves in the court.

But since Kalanithi Maran’s side requested for more time, the judge sanctioned a week’s time and asked them to present themselves on 9th and also added that he would take up the case then.

A question has arisen as to whether Shankar and Kalanithi Maran will present themselves in the court on the same date.
