A distributor has filed complaint against Mani Ratnam that he incurred loss of Rs 17 crores of out purchasing and distributing Mani Ratnam’s directorial venture ‘Kadal’.

The movie ‘Kadal’ directed by Mani Ratnam was released on Feb 1st.  Karthik’s son Gautham and Radha’s daughter Thulasi paired up for the movie.  Distributors already complained that they incurred loss out of the movie.

Further distributors laid siege on Mani Ratnam’s office and staged agitation.  In a development, this morning, distributor Mannan turned up at Police Commissioner Office, Egmore and presented complaint petition. In the complaint petition, he said: -

‘Before distributing movie ‘Kadal’, I demanded screening of the movie.  But Mani Ratnam’s manager Krishna said that the movie cannot be screened due to technical snag.  He told me that the movie would run in theatres at very mention that it is a Mani Ratnam movie.’

‘I took his word for granted and bought movie ‘Kadal’ for Rs 20 crores.  I received just Rs 3 crores.  We tried to contact Mani Ratnam several times. But we were not able to meet him.  Krishna is threatening me.  So, you should get me back my money.  Also, action should be initiated against Krishna’ said the distributor in his petition.
