High Court provides exemption to Sona from appearing in court

Actress Sona had commented that she would use men like tissue paper and then throw them away.  Association for Protection of Men filed case with Egmore Magistrate Court saying that Sona’s statement degrades men and that action should be initiated against her. 

The magistrate issued order that Sona appears in the court. In a development, Sona filed petition in Chennai High Court demanding cancellation of the case. 

The case came for hearing in the presence of magistrate N Kirubhakaran.  Lawyer Thanga Sivan presented himself on behalf of Sona.  As cases had been filed in various places against Kushbu for interview she had given, the High Court had already issued order that she need not turn up in person.  The lawyer said that, following trail, exemption should be given to Sona such that she does not appear in court. 

Following argument by Sona’s lawyer, the magistrate issued order providing exemption for Sona from appearing in court.
