Humiliation to Kamal, Rajini in Film Festival is a barbaric act – Karunanidhi

DMK Head Karunanidhi has said that humiliation meted out to Rajini and Kamal during Centenary Celebrations of Indian Cinema is a barbaric act.

Statement by Karunanidhi: -

Veteran artistes as Rajini, Kamal, Ilayaraja, SSR, were not allocated seats in the front row during Centenary Celebrations of Indian Cinema.

As they were seated in the front row, they were made to vacate the seat and were pushed to back row. It is an uncivilized act that they have been humiliated. I watched Rajini and Kamal standing somewhere in the second row.

Lakhs of their fans would have been distressed on seeing those photographs.

Time would not permit Chief Minister and other ministers to monitor all these. Only event organizers should have thought of all these and taken necessary steps. Always, artistes maintain self-respect.

Nobody should act in such a way that it distresses artistes, and everybody should be careful enough that artistes are not hurt.  I am thankful that I was not called, and that I have been saved from humiliation.  The Centenary Celebrations of Indian Cinema did not invite many, and has also felicitated many.’
