‘Isaignani’ to tune for a Stage Act!

Maestro Ilayaraja is making another mark in his career. This time it is on Stage. Yes, the music legend is all set to tune for a stage play that is to be staged in Hyderabad soon.

A musical play Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf was being planned by ace theatre personality Seema Azharuddin to stage in Hyderabad. When she wanted the play to be a musical art and looked for a big musician, it was her mentor Ramesh Prasad who reffered the music genius to her.

She approached ‘Raja’ of Music and he was very much happy to oblige her. Both the creators sat and discussed their piece of art that is soon to be staged. The composer said that he needed to sit with the team at least for 3 days to understand the theme and idea of the play.

“He enquired about everything even the small things that could make a big difference in conceptualizing his music for the play”, the excited Seema said. “When I said he was the God of Music he said I’m nobody”, she added admiring the humbleness of the legendary musician.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf is a Broadway type musical play with a theme that is like one of the top Broadway productions. It may be mentioned that A R Rahman also tuned his music for another theatre production called Bombay Dreams that was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and was staged in London and New York.
