Ilayaraja’s 1981 hit number to take place in Olympics

Reports are abuzz that there is to be Ilayaraja’s song in Olympic competition to be held in London.  Since reports from England confirm this, there is much enthusiasm among Ilayaraja fans.

The highlight is that the song is to be broadcast and aired in Tamil.  A song has been composed coordinating cultures and arts throughout the world.  It is reported that there are a total of 86 songs.  News in English dailies says that Ilayaraja’s song is one among those.

The song is none other than 1981 hit number ‘Naanthaan gnoppanda... Nallamuthu paerandaa’. This song is from movie ‘Ram Lakshman’ starring Kamal Haasan and Sripriya.

The song turned a hit number through Vali’s lyric contribution, SP Balasubramaniam’s voice and Ilayaraja’s wonderful music composition.  The song was treated a sensational one those days.  It is to be noted that the number is to be one among the songs in Olympics. 

When enquired regarding genuineness of the report, they commented:

‘When enquired with Ilayaraja’s office, it was verified that the song of course takes place among songs in Olympics.’
