Kamal Haasan says, he won’t return his award

Kamal Haasan has finally spoken out on the rising intolerance in the country and said that he would not return his national award. He was in Hyderabad to promote his
film and said that awards are given by a jury in recognition of creative work and not by a government.

He said that returning a national award was not a good gesture. It is an insult to the government and the people who awarded them with the honour. "Those returning the awards should find some other way to protest against the government,"

he added. He also said that the country has been facing intolerance since it gained independence in 1947.Several writers, artists and filmmakers are joining the bandwagon returning their awards to protest against the growing intolerance and violence in the society.
