There was flutter in Kodambakkam yesterday as news was released that Kamal Haasan is to cast Rajinikanth in his venture ‘Marudanayagam’.

Actor Kamal Haasan began the venture ‘Marudanayagam’ in 1997.  The Queen of England, Elizabeth started off the schedule.  The shooting was conducted for few days.  But due to financial constraints the movie schedule was halted.  The story revolves around knight Mohammed Yusuf Khan who lived in the 18th century.

Kamal Haasan cancelled the schedule due to exorbitant cost for the movie as gigantic historic background and the attire for knights. Allegations were that Kamal Haasan gave an interview in Mumbai that he is reconsidering the movie, and that he would cast Rajini in the movie.

The alleged interview was released in Mumbai’s leading magazine ‘Mumbai Mirror’.

Last evening, Kamal Haasan’s PRO tweeted a message refuting the allegation.

‘The report that Kamal Haasan is to take up ‘Marudanayagam’ and that Rajini will act in the movie is a false allegation.  The report is a very old one and they have released it afresh without any official approval’

‘Kamal Haasan is currently busy with ‘Viswaroopam’.  After completion of the schedule Kamal Haasan is to take up ‘Thalaivan Irukkinraan’ by Aascar Ravichandran.’
