‘Kuthu’ Ramya wins by-poll in Karnataka and becomes MP

Actress ‘Kuthu’ Ramya has won the by-poll held in Karnataka, and has been elected as MP with a difference of 47, 000 votes. 

It is not new for cine actors and actresses to enter politics.  Already, actresses as Vaijayanthi Mala, Jaya Bachchan, Jayapradha, and Rekha were into politics.  Now, actress Ramya is into politics, and has become an MP. 

Kannada actress Ramya did Simbu starrer ‘Kuthu’.  Then, Ramya did movies as Polladhavan, Giri, Singam Puli, and Vaaranam Aayiram.  Later, she turned a lead actress in Kannada.  Also, Ramya joined the Congress party, and held position in Youth Congress for some time. 

In recent elections held in Karnataka, Ramya supported Congress contestant and gathered votes.  As Congress won the elections and took over the regime, Ramya earned a good name. 

In a development, Kumaraswamy, son of former Prime Minister Deve Gowda stood in the assembly elections and won the elections.  Also, Mandya constituency MP was selected as member of the assembly.  So, the by-elections for both of these constituencies were held.  In Bangalore rural constituency, Kumarswamy’s wife Anitha stood, and Ramya contested the elections from Mandya constituency. 

About 45 percent of votes were registered in the by-elections held on August 21st. The counting of votes was held today, on August 24th.  Ramya has won the elections with a difference of 47, 000 votes. 

Now, actress Ramya has become the MP. She is to take over the position in another few days.
