There are many rumours centring Lakshmi Rai.  She was spoken in connection with cricket players.  Also, it was said that Lakshmi Rai arrived for Chennai IPL in a private aircraft.  Lakshmi Rai spoke on the issue:-

‘Baseless reports are being spread about me.  When I entered cine field, I did not mind such rumours.  I avoided answering such reports.  But now, it is not like that.  I answer rumours regarding me there and then.’

‘I do not have a guru in cinemas.  I came for acting without any background.  Initially, I did wrong movies.  I learnt lessons out of those mistakes.  Now, I am conscious that I should do good movies.  I do not hasten to do lot of movies.  I do not desire turning a lead actress.’

‘If one moves to number one position, it is difficult to retain the position.  One should be prepared to get back home if he or she loses market.  I make my moves steadily.’

‘There is no truth in reports that I arrived in private aircraft for IPL cricket.  I receive good changes in Malayalam.  But, both Tamil and Telugu cine field look upon me as a glamour item.’
