Legendary Bollywood icon Dev Anand passes away

Popular Hindi actor Dev Anand passed away in London. He is aged 88.  Doctors pronounced that he died of cardiac arrest.  He is titled the Bollywood’s romantic hero, and also the evergreen romantic superstar by his beloved fans.  Dev Anand who was suffering from poor health was taken to London for physical examination.  He died of cardiac arrest there.  His son Sunil was by his side when he passed away.
Dev Anand made his entry into Bollywood in 1946 through the film ‘Hum Ek Hain’.  The consecutive film ‘Siddhi’ made him a superstar.  Every film from then turned out a hit.


There are some super duper hits as ‘Paying Guest’, ‘Bossy’, ‘Jewel Thief’, ‘CID’, ‘Johny Mera Naam’, ‘Ameer Kharif’, ‘Warrant’, ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, and  ‘Des Pardes’.


As a mark of respect for the service he rendered in the film industry, he was given the ‘Padma Booshan’ award in 2001 and ‘Dada Saheb Phalke’ award in 2002.


Dev Anand started his production venture in 1949 by name ‘Navkethan International’ and produced more than 35 movies.  Dev Anand has won film fare awards twice.


Chethan Anand and Vijay Anand, the other two brothers of Dev Anand are also popular icons in the film industry.  The son of his sister Sheel Kantha Kapoor is the popular director Sekar Kapoor.
