Litigation filed against Sanjay Dutt’s remission

Sanjay Dutt who was convicted in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, will be released on Thursday after he was granted remission in his five-year sentence.

However, on the eve of his release after serving 42 months behind bars, public interest litigation was filed in the Bombay High Court on Wednesday.

Public interest litigation was filed in the Bombay High Court on Wednesday challenging his early release on remission, alleging that the 56-year-old actor was getting preferential treatment.

The petition has been filed by Pradeep Bhalekar. Bhalekar is hopeful and has said that it is in public interest to cancel the release orders of Sanjay Dutt.

Bhalekar had earlier written a letter asking Bombay HC to stop Dutt's release. The letter was disposed of by court.
