Maharashtra CM presents Lifetime Achievement award to Kamal Haasan

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan presented the lifetime achievement award to Kamal Haasan who has left an indelible impression in Indian cinema through his contribution.
The award was presented to Kamal Haasan in International Film Festival held in Mumbai. 

The 15th International Film Festival began in Mumbai yesterday.  The festival is to be held for eight days continuously, and artistes from across the globe are participating in the event.  The festival was organized jointly by Mumbai Film Association and Reliance Entertainment.  Director Shyam Benegal has been appointed as the President of the event. 

Actress Sonakshi Sinha participated as special guest on the opening day of the event. 

Costa Gavras, popular French director, who penned story for popular political movies as Amen, Z, Missing, and Le Couperet, was presented the lifetime award by Maharashtra Chief Minister.  Then, the entire crowd gave a standing ovation. 

Then, lifetime achievement award was presented to Kamal Haasan, for his achievement as actor, director, and producer.  Kamal Haasan received the award from Maharashtra Chief Minister.  ‘I have not prepared to speak in the event.  Even if I had done so, it would not have helped me.’

‘It is no exaggeration to say that my cinema is influenced by Shyam Benegbal, Gavras, and K Balachander.  The International Film Festival is the arena for artistes like me to learn more’ said Kamal Haasan.

Further, about 200 movies from 65 countries are to be screened during the event. Cash prize of 2, 20, 000 dollars was presented to movies under various sections.
