Prominent Malayalam cine producer cum director Achappan passed away. He was aged 81.
Appachchan, who was suffering from cancer, was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi. His physical condition deteriorated and he passed away last evening.
He is addressed as ‘Navodhaya Achchappan’, his original name being Maliyampurakkal Chocopunnoos. It is noteworthy that ‘My Dear Kuttychaaththaan’, which was made in all Indian languages, was produced by Achchappan.
Appachchan, who received many awards including JC Daniel award, implemented techniques as cinemascope, 70 M.M into Malayalam cine world.
He has got many credits as introducing Fazil, one among lead directors in Malayalam, introducing actress Poornima Bhagyaraj, and directing the first 70 M.M in Malayalam.
He is the founder of the first ever theme park in India, Kishkinda.
Appachchan is survived by his wife and two sons.
