Malayalam movie starring Amala Paul nominated for Oscar

Movies from many countries have been nominated for the most esteemed award in the cine field, the Oscar.  For the first time, a Malayalam movie has been nominated for Oscar Award. 


Movie by Malayalam director Biju Kumar Dhamodharan, ‘Aakashathinte Niram (Colour of Sky)’has been nominated for Oscar.  The movie centres relationship between man and nature, and the movie stars Indrajith, and Amala Paul.  Prithviraj has done vital role in the movie. 

In a development, the movie was screened in Fall Brook Theatre in California, America between November 2nd and November 8th.  The movie has been nominated for Oscar.


Regarding the development, director for the movie Biju Kumar spoke:-


‘I am happy that my movie ‘Aakashathinte Niram (Colour of Sky)’ is one among 282 movies from several countries which have been nominated for Oscar.’


Also, the movie has been nominated for award in 8th Eurasia International Film Festival, 48th Chicago Film Festival, South Asian Film Festival, Goa International Film Festival, Kolkata International Film Festival, and Kerala International Film Festival.  Also, the movie has been nominated for Golden Globe Award in 15th Shanghai Film Festival.


It is to be noted that this is the first time a Malayalam movie has been nominated for Oscar.  The director for the movie, Biju Kumar considers this a huge honour accorded to him.
