Minister warns theatres selling tickets for exorbitant rates

Even as theatres in suburbs are selling tickets for Vijay starrer Mersal for Deepavali at exorbitant rates,

State Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur Raju today warned cinema halls not to sell tickets above the rates prescribed by the government.With just five days to go for the release of Mersal, advance bookings began in several single and complex theatres in suburbs.

Fans allege that the tickets for special shows ( 4 am and 7 am) are priced between Rs 800 and Rs 100.

When asked, Kadambur Raju, speaking to reporters in Madurai, said, 'If it is brought to our notice that theatres charge exorbitant rates in tickets, we will take immediate action against them'.
