Veteran actor MN Nambiar’s wife Rukmani passed away today.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitaa conveyed her condolence on her demise.

Rukmani Nambiyar (82) is wife of late veteran actor MN Nambiar.  Following health setback, for the past 15 days she was taking treatment in a private hospital in Chennai. Last night she passed away at around 8.30 without responding to treatment.  

Her body was brought to her residence in Gopalapuram at around 12.00 midnight. 

The Nambiyar – Rukmani couple are survived by 2 sons and a daughter.  Elder son Sukumaran Nambiyar passed away last January due to cardiac arrest. Another son Mohan Nambiar is an industrialist.  Daughter Sneha is in Chennai.  Relatives conveyed that Rukmani’s funeral rites would be held in Besant Nagar mortuary at 4 PM. 

Chief Minister Jayalalitaa released a condolence note on demise of Rukmani.

‘On hearing news that veteran actor, late MN Nambiyar’s wife Rukmani passed away in hospital not responding to treatment, I was plunged into grief.’

‘I convey my deep condolences and concern to the bereaved members of Rukmani Nambiyar’s family.  I pray that her soul rests in peace at the Lord’s feet.’
