Murugadoss deletes scene in ‘Thuppaakki’ depicting Vijay smoking a cigarette

Due to intense protest from PMK party’s association ‘Pasumai Thaayagam’, the scene depicting Vijay smoking in movie ‘Thuppaakki’ has been removed.

Posters for movie ‘Thuppaaki’ were stuck all over Chennai, in which Vijay could be seen smoking a cigarette stylishly.  This was released in magazines and advertisements also.  PMK party condemned this.  The ‘Pasumai Thaayagam’ association sent letter regarding this to the Central Government.

The association highlighted the ban imposed by Central Government on scenes in movies depicting actors smoking, and also the association accused that the posters for ‘Thuppaakki’ violated the ban.

Selvakumar from Mogappair lodged complaint with Police Commissioner in a move towards removing the posters.

‘Out of smoking, youth in society are prone to cancer.  The posters depicting popular actors smoking cigarettes would mislead the youngsters.’

Initially, AR Murugdoss was stubborn that he would not remove the scenes on any accord.

But now he has conceded removing the scene.  Murugadoss speaking regarding this mentioned ‘The stills depicting Vijay smoking cigarette was used for advertisement alone.  There is no such scene in the movie.  We captured Vijay smoking for a photo shoot alone.  We have removed that from the movie. Henceforth, we would not use posters depicting Vijay smoking even for advertisement.’
