Muslim League protests against Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam 2’

There is protest against sequel to ‘Vishwaroopam’ with accusation that the sequel has scenes showing Muslims in bad light.

Already, controversial scenes in movie ‘Vishwaroopam’ were removed and the movie hit screens.  Now, ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ is entangled in controversy.  Kamal Haasan has directed the movie and stars in the movie.  Arrangements are in progress to release the movie for Deepavali.

Jawahar Ali, regional head of Indian National Muslim League has released statement in which he mentioned: -

‘We are distressed as we heard that Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam Part 2’, which is to release on Deepavali, depicts Muslims as terrorists and that there are scenes in the movie which hurt sentiments of the Muslims.

It does not befit a good artiste like Kamal Haasan to make movies hurting the sentiments of Muslims and then promoting the movie saying that it is freedom of expression.

People should stop making movies hurting anybody’s sentiments.  A creative artiste should understand why movies as ‘Dam 999’ and ‘Madras Café’ were banned from release in Tamil Nadu.

We request Kamal Haasan on behalf of Indian National Muslim League that he respects feelings of Muslims and takes care that scenes in the movie hurting Muslims are removed.  We request that he does it in such a way that it heals the wound Muslims have suffered.
