NeerParavai director requests TN CM for exemption from entertainment tax

The movie NeerPaRavai has proven that if opposition takes a movie then they cannot expect any privilege from ruling party.

Movie NeerPaRavai directed by Seenu Ramasamy has been given U certification by censor board.  But they have cancelled exemption from entertainment tax without stating any reason.

Director Seenu Ramasamy has condemned the biased activity by censor board.  He has written a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.  Here are excerpts from the letter addressed to Chief Minister:-

‘I strive to make quality movies.  As a result, movie ThenMaeRkup ParuvakaatRu’ released in 2012 won three national awards.’

‘Actress Saranya Ponvanna, who did mother role won best Indian actress award.  Also, myself and producer Captain Shibu Isaac received awards.’

‘Currently, I have come out with movie NeerpPaRavai centering lifestyle of minority Christian group residing in village by seashore.  The censor board appreciated the movie and certified it ‘U’.’

‘In the movie we have cinematized the pathetic situation of fishermen.  But, the tax exemption committee, on seeing the movie, has denied exemption from entertainment tax.’

‘Sri Sekar, veteran singer LR Easwari, veteran actress Rajasree, Thiru Ramji, cinematographer Ramana, Isaivani, viewed the movie and appreciated me. But they have cancelled exemption from service tax.’

‘We request that the movie be given exemption from service. I request that you provide exemption from entertainment tax and bless our unit for the effort in making the movie’ stated Seenu Ramasamy in the letter.
