Notice issued to Bharathiraja by Kerala High Court

Bharathiraja, the chairman of the jury of the 2013 Kerala state film award has been issued notice by the Kerala High court alleging that there is irregularities in the selection process of the film that was submitted in the State Award. 

This notice was issued to Bharathiraja, the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and the State government. The petition was filmed by the producer of Perariyathavar, Anilkumar Ambalakkaran.

Perariyathavar was a National Award Winning movie and this film was also submitted for the State Award. In the complaint, the producer alleged that the acclaimed Tamil film director Bharathiraja did not see all the 85 films that was considered for the award and this was known from his schedule. 

The screening of this films were held from March 17th to April 4th 2014 and Bharathiraja reached first in Kochi on March 19 evening to review the movie and he left the place on March 21 afternoon.

Then the director arrived in the city on March 30th and again left the place on April 4th. The petitioner added that the director has violated the norms of the selection process of the film and stated that he has not watched the movie and other sources of watching the film is also not possible as the DVD's are yet to be released for most of the films including his movie Perariyathavar. 

But these allegations were denied by director Hari Kumar who was also a part of the jury. Hari Kumar said that the chairman has watched all the films that were considered for the award.
