Verdict for case relating to movie ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannaadi’ postponed

The Chennai high court has postponed the verdict for petition filed against release of ‘Oru Kal Oru KaNNaadi’ starring MK Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Udhayanidhi is former Deputy Chief Minister cum DMK Treasurer MK Stalin’s son.  He stars in ‘Oru Kal Oru KaNNaadi’ and Hansika has paired up with him for the movie.  Rajesh M is the director for the movie.

It is said that there are scenes in the movie with mention of Hindu Sanyasis and Sadhus.  The petition says that the scenes are blemish to those people, and censor clearance should not be given.

Regarding this Hindu Dharma Sakthi movement’s secretary Deva Senathipathi filed petition ‘Currently, trailer of ‘Oru Kal Oru KaNNaadi’ is being broadcast in television.  There is character by name Ulundurpettai Ulagananda in the movie.

‘The movie portrays Hindu Sanyasis in derisive manner.  Due to that, a wrong impression is being created about Sanyasis. They have taken up Sanyasis for entertainment. This hurts feelings of Hindu people.’

‘So, the movie should not be cleared without removal of those scenes.  Order should be issued to turn down censor clearance if the movie has those scenes.  Ban should be imposed on release of the movie with those scenes.’

Censor Board’s answer

Censor Board has filed reply petition for this petition.  ‘We give certificate to the movie only after viewing fully.  But the petitioner has filed the petition after seeing the trailer alone.  It should not be accepted.’

Judge Vinod K Sharma has postponed the verdict for the case.
