Chennai city civil court dismissed the petition demanding ban upon title ‘ThaaNdavam’ for Vikram Starrer.
An individual Vijay, proprietor of Star Nine Medias filed petition with 16th city civil court. The petition stated ‘I am making movie titled ‘ThaaNdavam’ with new actors and actresses. I registered the title with Tamil Nadu Producer Council on December 2010.’
UTV Motion Pictures is making movie starring Vikram. The movie bears title ‘ThaaNdavam’. With regard to the issue, conciliatory talks were held headed by producer council.
In a development, UTV Motion Pictures Company has advertised using title ‘ThaaNdavam’. So, interim stay should be imposed upon title ‘ThaaNdavam’. Also, ban should be imposed upon title.
A reply petition was filed by UTV Motion Pictures.
In the reply petition, it was mentioned that after registering title ‘ThaaNdavam’, petitioner failed to renew entitlement for title. So petitioner’s complaint petition should be dismissed.’
Later, lawyer Kodhandapani appeared on behalf of petitioner and lawyer Sivanandaraj appeared on behalf of UTV Motion Pictures.
The magistrate, upon hearing arguments from both sides issued order ‘The title ‘Thaandavam’ by R Shankar has been given to petitioner. So, UTV Motion Pictures used title ‘ThaaNdavam’. So I dismiss petition demanding interim stay upon usage of title ‘ThaaNdavam’.
