Popular comedy actor Ennatha Kannaiah passed away last evening. He was aged 87.
Ennatha Kannaiah debuted as comedy actor through movie ‘Ezhai Padum Paadu’ starring Nagaiah and which was released in 1950. Following that he did movie ‘Nam Naadu’ starring MGR and he did associate for Rangarao in the movie.
He has done more than 250 movies including movies as ‘Naan’ and ‘MoonRezhuththu’. He received much acclaim for performance in Rajini’s ‘Thambikku Entha Ooru’. The scenes in which he appeared as a mahout turned out popular in the 80’s.
Following that he did movie ‘Mannan’ with other stars as Rajini and Goundamani.
Also, his comedy with Vadivelu in movie ‘Thottaal Poo Malarum’ is popular.
Also dialogues he speaks as he converses with Vadivelu in the movie are popular.
Kannaiah, unmindful of age, toiled in the cine field. Even at ripe old age, he did many movies. He did roles in recent movies as ‘Vedam’, ‘Padikkaadhavan’, ‘Emdan Magan’.
As he speaks dialogues, he frequently uses word ‘Ennatha’. That is the reason for the word sticking to his name.
At such ripe old age, he made people laugh. On Tuesday, as he took food and lay down, he passed away at around 4 pm. He died in sleep.
Four years back, his wife Rajam passed away. The couple is survived by two sons as Asokan, Sai Ganesh and four daughters as Amuda, Dhanalakshmi, Maheswari and Shanmugapriya. All of the children are married.
His body is placed in his residence at Royapettah, Chennai. The funeral procession is to be held on Wednesday at 4 pm.
