Pregnancy and delivery shot live in director Blessy’s ‘Kalimannu’

Blessy is popular director in Kerala cine field.  He is directing movie titled ‘Kalimannu’. He decided shooting instances as woman conceiving after marriage, till the time when she delivers a child.   

As he was in search of a pregnant woman, he came to know that actress Shwetha Menon is married and has conceived. Immediately, he contacted Shwetha Menon and her husband Srivalsan and discussed with them.

Blessy conveyed his interest in making a pregnant Shwetha Menon act in the movie, and in capturing live the delivery of child.  Both husband and wife conceded without hesitating.

Following that the shooting began.  All the traditions carried out during period of pregnancy were cinematized.  In a development, Shwetha Menon was admitted in Nanavathy hospital in Mumbi for delivery.  A special room was arranged for delivery.  Three cameras were fitted there.

As there was no way for normal delivery, surgery had to be carried out. Arrangements for surgery were done.  Last evening around 5 pm Shwetha Menon developed labor pain.  Immediately, director Blessy, cameraman Jacob, and assistant cameraman Balu, doctors and nurses rushed to the delivery ward.

Shwetha Menon suffered labor pain for 20 minutes and at around 5.27 pm she delivered a beautiful child through normal delivery.  The movie crew shot live the delivery scenes.

After delivery of child, actress Shwetha Menon addressed reporters:-

‘Period of pregnancy is a sweet time period for women.  It is not unique to women.  Men have major share in the happiness.  I conceded so that common people understand.  I am happy that I did the movie’
