Producers Council to start work as FEFSI to strike from coming 7th

Against announcement by FEFSI that it would resort to full-fledged strike from April 7th, the Film Producers Council has announced that they would get into work in full swing from the very date.

The Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council head SA Chandrasekaran released statement yesterday, and gave interview to reporters.

Here are excerpts from the interview:

‘Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) was begun 50 years back.  Then, cine shootings for Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi were conducted in Chennai.’

‘As time passed by, people of every state separated and began their own associations.  Here alone, work was done jointly with Film Employees Federation’

‘The people from the association (FEFSI) have not properly understood the current situation, and in several ways they prove hassle to the growth of Tamil cinemas.’

‘The FEFSI workers go into strike here and resume work in other languages.  They do not lose anything by going into strike here.  What is the plight of Tamil Cinema Producers?  It is the trend that there should be no workers strike at any point of time.’

‘It was opined that there should be separate federation of workers for Tamil cinema alone.  We hailed that decision.’

‘If somebody creates an association understanding the plight of producers and Tamil cinema, we are ready to function with them.  We do not have enmity towards workers.’

‘The representatives of FEFSI have announced that cine shootings will be halted and other film schedules will also be halted.  But from 7th we will go into work.  We are not ready to stop work.  If any worker or technician comes with total faith in us, we will embrace them and continue working.’

During the interview, the associates of Producers Council DG Thyagarajan, Siva, Secretaries K Muralidharan, PL Thenappan, Treasurer ST Dhanu, Film Producers Kovai Thambi, K Rajan, H Murali, V Sekar and Chandraprakash Jain were by the side.
