Sanjay Dutt files petition in SC requesting for time to take up sentence

Actor Bollywood was sentenced to imprisonment following the bomb blasts which happened in Mumbai in 1993.  He has filed petition with Supreme Court requesting for time to undergo the sentence. 

The Supreme Court issued verdict sentencing Sanjay Dutt to 5 years imprisonment in the bomb blast case. 

Sanjay Dutt had already undergone 18 months of sentence in the case with regard to Mumbai bomb blast.  He needs to undergo imprisonment of another three and a half years.  The Supreme Court issued order for Sanjay Dutt to surrender in the court by April 18th. 

But, there are more that 60 petitions requesting for mercy to be shown upon Sanjay Dutt. 

Sanjay Dutt filed petition with Supreme Court requesting for time to take up the sentence.  Sanjay Dutt said in the petition: -

‘I am under compulsion to finish movies in hand.  Producers have invested crores relying upon me.  If the movie schedules are not completed, there would be loss of several crores for producers and distributors.  I request for at least 196 days of time to take up the sentence.’
 

Three other people who were sentenced to imprisonment in the case filed petition requesting for time to take up sentence.  But their demand was rejected by the Supreme Court.
