Sanjay Dutt moved to tears as he addresses press

With tears welling up in his eyes, actor Sanjay Dutt said that he would abide by Supreme Court’s order and surrender. 

Bomb blast in Mumbai in 1993 claimed life of 257 innocent people. Many were seriously injured.  Following the bomb blast, a case was filed against Sanjay Dutt for possession of excessive arms.  The court which went into the case sentenced Sanjay Dutt to 6 years in prison. 

Sanjay Dutt, who went to prison, came out after one and a half years in 2007.  In a development, the case came for final hearing in Supreme Court the last week. 

Sentence for Sanjay Dutt was reduced from 6 years to 5 years.  Already, Sanjay Dutt had been in prison for one and a half years.  Now, he is under compulsion to undergo imprisonment for another three and a half years. 

Sanjay Dutt came out on bail, and now Supreme Court has issued order that he should surrender within one month.  There was prevalent anticipation about when Sanjay Dutt would surrender. 


In a development, celebrities including Rajinikanth consoled Sanjay Dutt.  Sanjay Dutt has said that he would abide by court order and surrender. 

Sanjay Dutt, who met reporters at his house in Mumbai today, spoke: -

‘I respect court order.  There are duties that I need to attend to.  I have some movie schedules.  I would finish all those schedules and would surrender by the deadline.’ 

‘I thank fans and press reporters who have been by my side for this long.  I love my country... I love my country...’ said Sanjay Dutt and burst into tears.

With tears welling up in his eyes, Sanjay Dutt waved at everybody and went into his house.
