Sarath to make appeal against stay on elections

Actor and Nadigar Sangam president Sarath Kumar is expected to file an appeal against the interim stay granted on polls for Nadigar Sangam elections.
The Madras High Court stayed the July 15 elections to the South Indian Film Artists Association (SIFAA), popularly called as 'Nadigar Sangam'.

Justice K Ravichandra Babu of the High Court granted the stay a day after reserving orders on a petition filed by actors Vishal and Nasser.

The petitioners sought to declare as null and void the June five notification of the SIFAA for elections to the body.

They had been demanding that the elections should be held on a holiday to enable the members, who would be busy in shooting on working day, to come and vote in the polls.

It is expected that Sarath Kumar will file an appeal against the same with the court today.
