Shankar, who worked as assistant director for SA Chandrasekaran turned a director through movie ‘Gentleman’.  ‘Gentleman’, his first directorial venture, turned a megahit. 

Following success of movie ‘Gentleman’, Shankar directed movies as ‘Kaadhalan’, ‘Indian’, ‘Jeans’, ‘Mudhalvan’, ‘Boys’, ‘Anniyan’, ‘Sivaji’, ‘Enthiran’, ‘NanBan’.  Also, Shankar remade movies as ‘Gentleman’ and ‘Mudhalvan’ in Hindi.

No particular movie directed by Shankar faltered in evoking response from masses.

Shankar turned best director through direction of movie ‘Enthiran’ which was to the range of Hollywood movies.  Indian actors and actresses eagerly await chance to do Shankar’s movie.

Currently Shankar is into direction of ‘I’ pairing up Vikram and Amy.
