Students are into agitation demanding that inquiry is held into the genocide being carried out in Sri Lanka and that Sri Lankan President Raja Paksa is announced a war criminal.  About 8 students from Loyola College began a fast and it marked beginning for agitations throughout Tamil Nadu.  Many political leaders are supporting the agitation by students against war crimes in Sri Lanka.

In a development, actor Simbu has conveyed his support to agitation by students.  Simbu appeared in the place where the fast was conducted and conveyed his support.  Also, he consoled the agitators saying that they should not lose courage and should not relent.

Simbu made an address to the students: -

‘I am also a Tamil guy.  I have the feeling that I am a Tamil.  That is why I am here.  I have not come here to win name and fame.  I have earned that name already.’

‘There is opinion in society that we students enjoy movies, spend time happily, and roam about to places.  It makes me happy that you students are giving voice for a purpose.’

‘I am here to prove that I am a Tamil and am here to convey my support to you.  So, do not lose heart.  I am confident something good will happen.  A small move would reap big results tomorrow.  My support is always there for you. Be courageous, said Simbu.
