Sri Lankan association named ‘Ravana Shakthi’ has stressed that movies starring South Indian actors as Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sarathkumar and Vijay should not be screened in Sri Lanka. Also, the association has added that they would lay siege on Sri Lankan theatres screening movies starring South Indian actors.
‘Ravana Shakthi’ Association has staged an agitation in Sri Lanka against Tamil actors.
The organizer of the association spoke thus: -
‘Of late, Sri Lankans are not able to visit Tamil Nadu. Sri Lankan Monks who visit Tamil Nadu are attacked. Instead of protesting against such violence, South Indian actors agitate against Sri Lanka and hail decisions against Sri Lanka.
As the scenario is such, there is no need to screen Tamil movies in Sri Lanka. Particularly, movies starring Rajini and Kamal should not be screened in Sri Lanka. Tamil actors as Sarathkumar and Vijay have opined against Sri Lanka. So, permission should not be given to screen their movies in Sri Lanka. We placed demand and we have received favourable reply.’
Tamils feel that the demand by the Sri Lankan association is a part of political campaign.
Political analysts feel that such agitations are being held by Sri Lankan association, and controversial issues with regard to Tamil cine icons are being raised so as to attract the attention of media.
The barbaric Singhalese do not understand that Tamil actors and cine professionals are not in any way affected through ban imposed upon screening of Tamil movies in Sri Lanka.
